Today's riddle: What do you call cows dancing in the dark 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Regional Acceptance closures to eliminate 253 jobs in Pitt County (wcti12.com) — Regional Acceptance Corporation will close its Greenville and Winterville facilities, cutting 253 jobs across Pitt County and ending operations on East Fire Tower Road by July 2027. Greenville's mayor says the city will work to attract and retain employers while Truist, RAC's parent, exits near-prime auto lending and coordinates transition help with workforce agencies.
2. Greenville Fire/Rescue adds chaplains to support first responders (witn.com) — Greenville Fire/Rescue is adding four chaplains to give local first responders a confidential place to talk through tough calls and personal struggles. The team includes a former Greenville firefighter who understands the emotional toll of the job and hopes to make it easier for crews to seek help. Leaders say it's another mental health resource available whenever staff need someone to listen.
3. Greenville man faces drug, child exposure charges after arrest (wcti12.com) — A Greenville man has been charged with multiple felonies after authorities say he kept roughly 680 grams of marijuana at a Davenport Street home and exposed a child under 16 to the drug. Charges include possession with intent to sell, maintaining a dwelling for drugs, conspiracy, and exposing a child to a controlled substance; he was arrested September 17 and released on bond September 18.
4. Pilot program launches Greenville Express to expand transit for five eastern NC counties (wcti12.com) — Residents from five nearby counties now have a new coordinated transit option that brings them directly into Greenville several days a week. The Greenville Express pilot connects riders via New Bern Mall, with Tuesday–Thursday service arriving in Greenville at 10 a.m. and leaving at 2 p.m. Seats cost $20 each way and must be reserved at least two days ahead.
