1. Greenville man accused of cocaine trafficking near elementary school (wcti12.com) — Greenville police say a 54-year-old local man was arrested after officers reportedly found nearly 30 grams of cocaine at a Tyson Street home within 1,000 feet of Sadie Saulter Educational Center. He faces multiple trafficking and school-zone drug charges, plus counts related to exposing a child to controlled substances, and is being held on a $300,000 secured bond.
2. Chamber honors business excellence award recipients (reflector.com) — Greenville's business community just celebrated three standout local companies at the Greater Greenville Chamber's 2026 Business Excellence Awards. Legacy Premier Real Estate, Downtown Barre, and longtime boatbuilder Grady-White Boats were honored for entrepreneurship, community impact, and decades of local investment. Chamber leaders say these firms help keep Greenville-Pitt County a thriving place to live and work.
3. Permanent youth curfew kicks off in Greenville, police discuss enforcement (witn.com) — Greenville has enacted a permanent youth curfew for parts of downtown, banning anyone under 18 from being in public in the designated area from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays. Police say they'll focus on disruptive behavior and very young teens, with consequences ranging from calls to parents to juvenile petitions. Exceptions cover work, school events, emergencies, and constitutionally protected activities.
4. City, DOT agree to extend sidewalks on East 10th Street (reflector.com) — Greenville residents can expect new sidewalks along East 10th Street, connecting River Hills to nearby shopping centers in a state-funded project slated to start construction in 2028. City Council also advanced affordable housing on West Fifth Street and heard criticism of the new downtown youth curfew, while recognizing the Greenville Tar Heels 8-10 All-Star baseball team's championship run.
5. MrBeast contestants speak after spending 202 days inside of Greenville grocery store (witn.com) — Four men, including longtime Greenville residents, spent 202 days inside a Greenville grocery store for MrBeast's latest challenge and walked away sharing a $1 million prize. Along the way they formed close friendships, pushed through emotional and physical tests, and even used the time to improve English skills. They also helped donate food to eastern North Carolina charities like Joy's Soup Kitchen.
