• Four Lake Norman hospitals seek approval for 3D body scanner. Only one will get it (charlotteobserver.com) — Huntersville residents could soon see better access to advanced cancer and cardiac imaging, as Novant seeks a fixed PET scanner for Huntersville Medical Center and a Huntersville‑based oncology group proposes its own unit in Denver. They're competing with Atrium and Duke for a single state‑approved scanner in the Lake Norman region, with public hearings set in October.
• Huntersville hears proposal for townhome development near Red Line station (lakenormanpublications.com) — Huntersville officials are weighing a rezoning request for more than 100 townhomes near Sam Furr and Old Statesville roads, close to a future Red Line station, with staff raising concerns but neighbors voicing support. The town board will vote next month, and also advanced other zoning tweaks and approved a $20,000 grant to the Arts & Science Council.
• 2026-27 Presbyteral Council officers, members announced (catholicnewsherald.com) — Huntersville readers may be especially interested that Father John Putnam, pastor of St. Mark Parish in town, has been named treasurer of the Diocese of Charlotte's Presbyteral Council for 2026-27. The council, which advises the bishop on governing the diocese, includes priests from across the region and will serve terms through 2029.
