• North Carolina bottle shop managers convicted of felony tax fraud (myfox8.com) — Managers of Huntersville's Crafty Beer Guys have pleaded guilty to felony charges for embezzling more than $600,000 in state sales tax, part of over $1 million repaid to North Carolina. The case, investigated by the Department of Revenue and prosecuted by the state Department of Justice, marks the second Mecklenburg County bottle shop tax-fraud conviction this month.
   

• North Mecklenburg Developer Draws Opposition Over Car Wash, Gas Station Proposals (power98fm.com) — A proposed rezoning in Huntersville could bring a car wash and gas station right up against nearby backyards, and neighbors are already organizing to fight it. Developer Jake Palillo, who has multiple projects in Huntersville and Cornelius, says he's used to pushback, but town officials will now review the plan and hold public hearings before any vote.
