• Lake Norman Charter volleyball embraces cancer survivors, aims for 2nd state title (heraldonline.com) — Lake Norman Charter in Huntersville is rallying around cancer survivors while chasing a second straight 4A state volleyball title, highlighted by a packed Go Gold For Cancer Night at the school. Players, including survivor Avery Caruso and her sister Riley, share how cancer shaped their lives and strengthened the team's bond as they dominate opponents and embrace the pressure of being defending champions.
• Huntersville man killed in Lincoln County collision, NCSHP said (wcnc.com) — A 33-year-old Huntersville man was struck and killed while walking along NC 73 near Cowans Ford Road in Lincoln County, a route many local drivers use regularly. State troopers say the pedestrian, identified as Jamie Cash, died at the scene after being hit by a pickup truck, and no charges have been filed. NC 73 was temporarily shut down in both directions Wednesday afternoon.
• Frustrated, 'under duress' Davidson reverses I-77 toll lane opposition (lakenormanpublications.com) — Davidson leaders reluctantly reversed their opposition to new I-77 toll lanes after state legislation threatened steep financial penalties for towns that resisted the project, joining Charlotte and other CRTPO members. Huntersville, which had previously opposed the toll plan, is part of the regional bloc now backing the $4.3 billion expansion. The decision could shape future traffic patterns and regional governance debates affecting north Mecklenburg communities.
