• Lake Lure dam faces costly future (carolinajournal.com) — Lake Lure officials are moving ahead with plans to replace the town's 100-year-old high‑hazard dam, with early construction estimates reaching up to $174 million and major coordination needed on nearby bridge work and utilities. Town leaders are also negotiating FEMA reimbursements for Hurricane Helene recovery projects, even as they prepare a centennial celebration of the existing dam starting September 30, 2026.
