1. Man charged with breaking into Greg Biffle's home after NASCAR driver died in plane crash – WSB-TV Channel 2 (wsbtv.com) — Mooresville readers should know a Georgia man has been charged in connection with a January 8 burglary at the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle's Mooresville home, weeks after Biffle and his family died in a plane crash. Iredell County investigators say stolen cash, coins, guns and memorabilia were recovered, and electronic data allegedly placed the suspect at the residence during the break‑in.
2. Mooresville animal rescue faces funding crisis as need reaches all-time high (wsoctv.com) — Piedmont Animal Rescue in Mooresville, which relies on local foster homes instead of kennels, is facing a serious funding shortfall and says donations aren't keeping up with record demand. With veterinary bills around $1 million a year and more surrenders since Charlotte-Mecklenburg's policy change, the group needs community support before an October 1 deadline to keep helping animals find homes.
3. Charlotte's Camp North End looking forward to more customers after Red line rail stop announced (wbtv.com) — Mooresville could eventually sit at the northern end of Charlotte's planned 25‑mile Red Line commuter rail, which would run from uptown through Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson. A newly announced stop at Camp North End is already exciting Charlotte businesses, and transit officials are studying additional stations as design work continues over the next couple of years.
4. Lowe's Home Improvement gets shunned in home state over contract with notorious surveillance vendor, Flock (fightforthefuture.org) — Lowe's corporate headquarters in Mooresville is drawing scrutiny as protesters in Wilmington and other states push the company to end its partnership with Flock license plate surveillance cameras. Activists and some lawmakers argue the technology threatens privacy and civil liberties, while shareholders and advocacy groups are pressuring Lowe's for more transparency and possible changes to its surveillance practices.
