Charlotte Mail Carrier Shot, Seriously Injured Thursday Afternoon

A mail carrier was shot in southwest Charlotte Thursday afternoon and taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to CMPD.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A U.S. postal service mail carrier was shot and seriously injured Thursday afternoon, prompting an investigation by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police’s Homicide unit.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Archer Avenue, according to Charlotte Police. Paramedics transported the male mail carrier, who had suffered more than one gunshot wound, to Carolinas Medical Center. His injuries are considered serious, CMPD said.

According to initial investigator reports, the mail carrier did not know the suspects, but was involved in an altercation before he was shot.
