Charlotte Police Release Images From Midnight Diner Shooting

Charlotte police released photos of a suspect they say is wanted for an early morning shooting last month at a popular South End diner.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte police released photos Wednesday of a man they say is the suspect in an early morning shooting last month at a popular South End restaurant that sent a man to an area hospital.

According to CMPD, the July 31 shooting at the Midnight Diner occurred after the victim, who had eaten in the restaurant located at 115 E. Caron Boulevard, and the suspect got into an argument around 5:30 a.m in the rear parking lot. After a brief struggle, the suspect pulled a handgun and the victim began to run.

The suspect shot the victim multiple times, leaving him with several non-life threatening wounds, according to CMPD. He was driven to Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital by a diner from the restaurant.

Charlotte police describe the suspect as a skinny black male with a goatee and short dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt. The black, four-door sedan he left the scene in had a left front tire that appeared to be a spare or missing a hub cap.
