Victim Found In Doorway Identified By Police

A murder investigation is underway after a man's body was found lying in a doorway Tuesday afternoon near Eastway Park.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway in east Charlotte after a body of a man was found lying in a doorway Tuesday afternoon, Charlotte police said July 10.

The man, who has been identified as 29-year-old Philip Patrick Young, Jr., was discovered shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Camrose Drive, which is about a block away from Eastway Park off The Plaza.

Officers responded to a 911 call to the location and found the man unresponsive. Medic later pronounced him dead on the scene, according to a statement issued by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. CMPD homicide detectives canvased the area looking for witnesses, and the department’s crime scene search processed the scene for physical evidence.

CMPD said the investigation is ongoing and asked that anyone with information about this incident call 704-432-TIPS, or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
