Charlotte Woman Wakes Up, Fights Off Sexual Assault: CMPD

A woman woke up early Thursday to an attempted sexual assault by a man who broke into her north Charlotte apartment.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police are searching for a man they say broke into a woman’s north Charlotte apartment overnight and sexually assaulted her.

The attack occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Nov. 16 at a home in the Tanglewood Apartments complex in the 4500 block of Wynbrook Way. The victim called 911 and told responded officers that she woke up when the suspect attempted to sexually assault her. She fought with the attacker and he fled her apartment on foot, she told police.

The suspect is described by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police as a black male, about six-foot tall, between 20-25 years old, with a thin build.
