Driver Running From Cops In Charlotte Crashes Into Daycare Bus

A driver fleeing highway patrol officers crashed into two vehicles Thursday morning before taking off on foot.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A driver fleeing from a Highway Patrol officer crashed into a daycare van children and another vehicle in north Charlotte Thursday morning before taking off on foot.

The daycare bus was transporting five children, but none were injured, police said.

The incident took place near Highland Creek in north Charlotte, prompting school officials to put Highland Creek Elementary and Ridge Road Middle School on lockdown, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. That lockdown was lifted, however, once the suspect was located and taken into custody.
