Early Morning Single Car Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Injured
A single car crash in north Charlotte left the driver dead and three passengers injured, Charlotte police said.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- An early morning wreck has left one person dead and three passengers injured after a car missed a curve, struck a tree and flipped, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The fatal accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Jan. 9, in the 1200 block of Atando Avenue in north Charlotte. The driver, identified by CMPD as 44-year-old Kutana Vanessa Nesbitt, was driving east when the 1996 Buick she was driving left the road at a curve, struck a curb, followed by a tree before overturning.
According to CMPD, speed was not a contributing factor in the crash but Nesbitt, who was wearing a seat belt, is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.

Three passengers in the car received injuries during the crash. Brenda Jean Kearse, 54, was taken to Presbyterian Hospital by paramedics with serious injuries. Shakeela Monique Williams, 25, and Jermaine Lamont Walls, 24, were both treated on the scene for minor injuries.
