Failure To Stop, Alcohol Leads To Fatal Crash In NoDa: CMPD
The driver killed in a fatal crash Thursday night in NoDa was not wearing a seat belt, according to Charlotte Police.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A two-car crash Thursday night in a NoDa intersection left one driver dead and sent another to the hospital with injuries, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report.
The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Matheson Avenue at Clemson Avenue, when a Chevrolet Impala traveling on south on Clemson failed to stop at a stop sign. As the car entered the intersection at Matheson Avenue, it was struck on the driver’s side by a Ford F650 truck.
Medic responded to the scene to treat injuries, and pronounced the driver of Impala dead shortly before 8 p.m. According to CMPD, the victim, who has been identified as 22-year-old Dayton James Dwy, was not wearing a seatbelt and speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors for the crash.

The 20-year-old driver of the truck, identified by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police as Jeb Stuart Walker, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries by medics. Walker, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not speeding and alcohol was not a contributing factor, CMPD said.
