Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Shot Dead In Belmont

The male victim was found around 11 a.m. near East 16th Street and the Greenway.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway in Belmont after a man was found shot dead Monday morning on East 16th Street near the Greenway, according to Charlotte police.

CMPD received a 911 call reporting gunfire in the area shortly before 11 a.m. July 16, and responding officers found an unresponsive male victim, a police report said. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Homicide detectives are processing the crime scene and searching for witnesses. CMPD asks that anyone with information about this case contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, or 704-432-TIPSand ask to speak with Homicide Detective Burkard, who is the lead detective assigned to the case.
