Investigation Launched In East Charlotte Homicide

A homicide investigation is underway Monday morning after a man was shot dead in an apartment located on Firelight Lane.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway after a Monday morning shooting left a man dead in east Charlotte. A woman who police say was involved in the deadly shooting, is being interviewed by detectives about the incident, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

CMPD officers responding to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon arrived at the scene of the March 12 homide in the 5500 block of Firelight Lane shortly before 8 a.m. The male victim, whose identity has not yet been released by police, was found shot inside the apartment and was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to police, the woman and man were both in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

CMPD detectives are currently searching for any additional witnesses, and say this is an active, ongoing investigation. Police ask that anyone with information about this incident contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, or 704-432-TIPS and ask to speak with Homicide Detective Carter.
