Murder Suspect Arrested After K9, Helicopter Search

Demario Ericson Roddey, 25, was gunned down in the front yard of a north Charlotte home Monday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the murder of Demario Ericson Roddey, who was shot and killed in the front yard of a north Charlotte home Monday afternoon during what police say was an argument.

Roddey, 25, was found shot to death May 7 in the front yard of a home in the 9300 block of Feldbank Drive in Charlotte shortly after 2:30 p.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

“At this time, detectives believe that an argument began between the victim and a known suspect which led to the shooting,” CMPD said in a statement.

Evidence and information at the scene led CMPD to identify the primary suspect in the case as Tamerrian Anthony, 26. K9 unit and aviation units were dispatched to search for Anthony, who was found near the homicide scene shortly after the shooting, police said.

Anthony has been charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

CMPD said the investigation into the case is ongoing and asks anyone with information call 704-432-TIPS and ask to speak to a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
