Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Plaza Midwood Accident

A pedestrian was killed while crossing the road outside of a crosswalk shortly after midnight on The Plaza, CMPD said.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A pedestrian was hit and killed after he was struck while crossing The Plaza early Monday morning, according to Charlotte police.

Charles Walker White, 59, was hit at 12:16 a.m. by a 2012 GMC Terrain driven by Frank Lee McCorey as the SUV was heading north in the 1300 block of The Plaza. White, who was wearing dark clothing, was not crossing the road in a crosswalk, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. He died en route to Carolinas Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 12:32 a.m.

CMPD asks anyone with information about this incident, which remains under investigation, call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
