Police Identify 19-Year-Old Homicide Victim Found Near UNCC

Jervais Wan Ya Cain, 19, was killed Monday night in north Charlotte. Here's what police are saying about the case.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte police are searching for leads after finding the body of a 19-year-old man they say was shot in north Charlotte Monday evening.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police discovered the body of Jervais Wan Ya Cain, 19, while conducting a welfare check in the 500 block of Barton Creek Drive near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus Nov. 20 around 11 p.m., CMPD said in a statement.

Cain was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Detectives from CMPD’s homicide unit are investigating the case and ask that anyone with information contact Detective Koll by calling 704-432-TIPS, or by calling Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
