Search Underway For Truck Used In Fatal Hit And Run: CMPD
Charlotte Police are searching for a green Ford pickup truck with front end damage after a man was hit and killed Sunday evening.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle they say was involved in a fatal hit and run crash that killed a 31-year-old man Sunday evening along North Graham Street.
The pedestrian, who was identified by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department as Matthew Alan Midkiff, was hit and killed around 9 p.m. Aug.26 in the 3600 block of North Graham Street.
According to a CMPD police report, Midkiff was killed when he was struck by a green Ford Ranger pickup truck while he was standing in the right lane of the street. “The roadway does have overhead street lights and the pedestrian was not wearing any clothing that was reflective,” CMPD said. “This section of the roadway has no crosswalks or pedestrians signals.”

CMPD said that speed was considered a contributing factor in the crash, and that the driver of the truck fled the scene.
Detectives are searching for the vehicle and its driver and describe the truck as a 1990s model with an extended cab and damage to its front. CMPD asks that anyone with information about this crash contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
