Coastal Resources Commission to revisit N.C. 12 protections, septic systems, and hardened oceanfront structures at Manteo meeting (islandfreepress.org) — State coastal regulators are weighing new rules that could speed up larger sandbag protections for N.C. 12 on Ocracoke Island and other erosion hotspots, plus tighter oversight of failing septic systems. The Aug. 26–27 Manteo meeting will also tackle hardened shoreline structures and updated hazard maps, shaping how Outer Banks communities like Ocracoke respond to future erosion threats.
