1. Pinehurst Approves $175k for Historic Cabin Flood Protection (foxy99.com) — Pinehurst officials have committed up to $175,000 to protect the historic Sandhills Woman's Exchange cabin from flooding, with the total potentially rising if a federal grant falls through. At the same meeting, council created a Public Safety Technology Advisory Committee, pushed NCDOT to study a new design for the Pinehurst Traffic Circle, and approved a new rescue pumper for local fire response.
2. Pinehurst Opens Public Lens on Law Enforcement Technology (thepilot.com) — Pinehurst leaders are moving ahead with new oversight of police technology, creating a Public Safety Technology Advisory Committee while updating engineering standards and flood rules. The Village Council also discussed the town's contract for license-plate cameras and other surveillance tools, aiming to give residents more transparency into how public-safety tech is chosen and used.
3. Miller: An Outstanding Amateur and Gift of Giving in Longleaf (thepilot.com) — Golfers at Longleaf and Pinewild in the Pinehurst area turned friendly competition into community support, raising more than $2,700 for The Bethany House through the Longleaf Stableford Challenge for Charity. Pinewild's women's interclub teams also capped their 2026 Moore County season with both Team 1 and Team 2 winning titles, including a repeat championship for Team 2.
4. World Golf Hall of Fame announces class of 2027 finalists (sandhillssentinel.com) — Pinehurst's World Golf Hall of Fame has unveiled its finalists for the Class of 2027, spotlighting standout male and female competitors, historic players, and major contributors to the game. A selection committee will vote this fall, with the inductees announced in December and honored at a 2027 ceremony in St Andrews, Scotland.
