• Gene Fred Toney, 77, of Sunshine (rutherfordweekly.com) — Sunshine resident Gene Fred Toney, 77, is remembered by family that includes his son Chad and daughter-in-law Amanda living in Rutherfordton. A charter member of Ross Hill Baptist Church, he leaves behind children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who recently gathered for his funeral service at the church to celebrate his life and faith.
   

• Jimmy Keeter, age 77, of Forest City (rutherfordweekly.com) — Forest City residents are mourning 77-year-old Jimmy Keeter, whose family ties stretch across Rutherford County, including a son living in Rutherfordton. A skilled auctioneer and former Keeter Kustoms owner, he is remembered for his work, church involvement, and large extended family who recently gathered to honor his life and suggest memorials to Hospice of Carolina Foothills.
