• Area Sports Briefs: Rings for Hornets (salisburypost.com) — Salisbury High's boys basketball team just received its 4A state championship rings at First United Methodist Church, capping a 24-7 season and memorable playoff run. The piece also highlights local standout Braylon Taylor's MVP honor, an East Rowan coaching change, and achievements by Rowan County wrestlers, runners, and college athletes with Salisbury ties.
• 'Be kind, it costs nothing'Dolly Parton Day of Kindness observed on 9-25 (salisburypost.com) — Downtown Salisbury marked Sept. 25 as Dolly Parton Day of Kindness, with Mayor Tamara Sheffield issuing a proclamation at City Hall and encouraging residents to spread goodwill. South Main Book Company kept the celebration going with free books, donations for Rowan literacy nonprofits, and information on Dolly Parton's Imagination Library now fully enrolling young children in Rowan County again.
