• Area Sports Briefs: Salisbury soccer falls to Spiders (salisburypost.com) — Salisbury families can now sign up kids ages 7-12 for the city's youth boys basketball league through Oct. 24 at Hall Gym or online, with volunteer coaches needed. The update comes alongside coverage of Salisbury High's first boys soccer loss of the season and other local soccer results, keeping you current on how area teams are performing.
• VA awards $1.5 million to organizations working to strengthen community-based suicide prevention efforts in North Carolina (va.gov) — Salisbury's VA Health Care System announced more than $1.5 million in federal grants to two North Carolina organizations that support veterans at risk of suicide, expanding community-based prevention services beyond VA clinics. Local VA leaders say the funding will help connect more veterans to lifesaving care and resources, while the Veterans Crisis Line remains available 24/7 for anyone needing immediate support.
