• Surf City considers stricter e-bike rules ahead of new state law (wect.com) — Surf City officials are weighing stricter local e-bike rules, including lower speed limits on trails and mandatory helmets for all minors, ahead of a new statewide law taking effect December 1. After a public meeting focused on the Topsail Island Connector path, town staff are now drafting regulations they hope to adopt by year's end, aiming to keep pedestrians and riders safe.
   

• Stolen Surf City property recovered in multi-county jet ski theft investigation (wcti12.com) — Property tied to a Surf City Police Department case has been recovered as part of a multi-county investigation into nearly $100,000 in stolen jet skis and trailers. Brunswick County deputies used license plate reader technology to track a suspect vehicle, leading to search warrants, multiple recovered watercraft, and charges against a Wilmington man, with more charges still possible.
   

• Catching summer rays: Thermo Fisher JIC alumni explore science beyond the classroom (societyforscience.org) — Surf City gets a national spotlight through the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, where a young Thermo Fisher science award winner spent the summer caring for turtles and learning marine biology. His experience is featured alongside other teens' STEM adventures, highlighting Surf City as a hands-on learning destination for conservation-minded students.
