Work on Wilmington seeks projects for 2027 Day of Service (wwaytv3.com) β Nonprofits, schools, and local government groups in Wilmington and New Hanover County can now apply for projects to be tackled during the 2027 Work on Wilmington Day of Service on April 17. Organizers want four-hour, high-impact volunteer projects that address clear community needs, with proposals due by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2026 through the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.

Police seeking information about hit-and-run on College Road (foxwilmington.com) β Wilmington police are asking for your help identifying a red sedan that hit two pedestrians walking along College Road near Fountain Drive late on August 29 and then drove off. Investigators say the car has front-end and possible windshield damage and was last seen heading toward Kerr Avenue. Anyone with information is urged to contact WPD or use Tip 411.

Mother questions delay in release of information in Wilmington hit-and-run involving her son (wwaytv3.com) β A UNCW student was seriously injured in an August hit-and-run on South College Road, and his mother in Wilmington is questioning why police waited more than a month to release images of the suspect's red sedan. She's pressing for answers, justice for her son, and long-term improvements to pedestrian safety along the busy corridor so other families are spared similar trauma.

WECT NEWS NOW: 'Department of Terrestrial Magnetism' art exhibit debuting in Wilmington (foxwilmington.com) β Wilmington's Cargo District is hosting a new solo exhibit by local artist Michael Webster at Fried Fruit Art Space, exploring early 20th-century magnetic-field research through drawings and sculpture. You can catch an Artist Talk at UNCW on Oct. 1 and an opening reception at The Alley on Oct. 2, with the show open to the public through Oct. 30.
