Environmental groups request feds look into data used for CFMB replacement (portcitydaily.com) โ Environmental groups and local governments in Wilmington are pushing federal agencies to revisit decades-old data guiding the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge replacement and Wilmington Harbor Project. They argue a lower, less costly bridge could meet today's reduced shipping needs while better protecting sensitive wetlands and riverfront areas, and have launched a letter campaign urging a fresh navigational and environmental review.

Wilmington homeless center drops plans for new location amid neighbor concerns (wect.com) โ A Wilmington day center for people experiencing homelessness has dropped plans to move into the former Sorrow Drowner building at 10th and Dock after nearby residents raised safety, school proximity, and notification concerns. Living Hope, which previously operated at First Baptist Church, says it will reconsider its options and look for a location and model that better fit the Wilmington community.

Hoggard volleyball defeats New Hanover, stays perfect in conference play (wwaytv3.com) โ Hoggard High School's volleyball team stayed perfect in conference play with a 3โ1 win over county rival New Hanover in Wilmington, keeping local bragging rights intact. Senior Ellie Keene and teammate Hailey Canavan delivered key points, while New Hanover's Kayden Perez fought to close the gap. The Vikings now sit undefeated in conference, setting up an exciting stretch for local fans.

4. Ava Fancy - College of Education News (ecu.edu) โ Ava Fancy, a Wilmington native and John T. Hoggard High School graduate, is pursuing elementary education at ECU with support from a College of Education scholarship and the NC Teaching Fellows program. She describes how welcoming teachers in her own childhood inspired her career choice and highlights the strong campus community and extracurricular opportunities that drew her to ECU.
