1. Illinois man charged after allegedly stabbing coworker at Fargo hotel (valleynewslive.com) — Fargo police say a truck driver was stabbed in the neck during a late-night altercation at the Baymont Inn and Suites on 21st Avenue South, leading to a felony aggravated assault charge. Officers found the victim outside the hotel with a serious but non-life-threatening wound, and the Illinois coworker accused in the attack is now jailed in Cass County after his arraignment.
2. West Fargo Public Schools prohibits e-bike and scooter use on elementary, middle school grounds (inforum.com) — Families in West Fargo should know that elementary and middle school students who use e-bikes or scooters will now have to walk them or ride manually while on school grounds. Citing safety concerns and rapid growth in motorized bike use, West Fargo Public Schools adopted a district-wide rule, with leaders planning to monitor its impact and adjust if needed.
3. Downtown Fargo unveils 2026 Streetlight Gallery featuring NDSU student art (kfgo.com) — Downtown Fargo's lamp posts now showcase 30 colorful banners designed by NDSU students, turning Broadway and nearby streets into an outdoor gallery for the rest of the year. The Streetlight Gallery, a collaboration between NDSU and downtown groups, highlights 23 student artists and aims to make the city center more vibrant and connected to the university community.
4. New NDSU program prepares students for nuclear energy jobs (inforum.com) — North Dakota State University in Fargo is launching a 12-credit nuclear engineering certificate this fall to prepare students for emerging clean energy, defense, and health care roles. With 23 students already in the first class, leaders hope to grow enrollment and eventually build a stackable path toward a nuclear engineering minor.
5. NDSU launches $4 million AI supercomputer (inforum.com) — North Dakota State University in Fargo is rolling out a $4 million AI supercomputer, funded by National Science Foundation grants, to power research and teaching on campus. The new "Horizon" system will let faculty and graduate students safely experiment with local AI tools, with room to expand access to undergrads over time.
