• Wahpeton Fall Festival returns with new additions (wahpetondailynews.com) — Wahpeton families can look forward to the Fall Festival returning Oct. 10 at Chahinkapa Park along Laura Hughes Drive, with most activities free to attend. Expect 26 vendors, a pumpkin patch, carriage rides, live music, a mixology class, and a joint Cub Scouts Halloween Carnival, all aimed at giving residents an affordable, memorable kickoff to the holiday season.
   

• Wahpper: The World's Largest Catfish (atlasobscura.com) — Wahpeton's own "Wahpper" — a 40-foot, 5,000‑pound fiberglass catfish — has become a defining roadside landmark along the Red River, celebrating the town's fishing heritage. Built in 1997 through a local partnership, the sculpture still draws visitors, especially each spring when floodwaters briefly make the giant fish look like it's swimming again.
   

• Trial for Moorhead man accused of killing mother in 2022 begins Monday (inforum.com) — A high-profile murder trial starting in Moorhead has a Wahpeton connection, as the defendant was arrested in Wahpeton the day after his mother was found dead in 2022. The bench trial, expected to last two weeks, involves both second-degree and first-degree murder charges, with prosecutors planning dozens of witnesses and no mental-illness defense expected from the accused.
