Accused Serial Killer Linked To Ohio Cold Case: Prosecutors
Prosecutors say they've linked another cold case rape and murder to an accused serial killer.
TOLEDO, OH — An Arizona man has been accused of raping and murdering a woman in Wood County in 1996, prosecuting attorneys announced Thursday.
Samuel Legg, 51, has been previously accused of killing four women in Ohio and Illinois in the 1990s. The Wood County Prosecutor's office brought further charges against Legg on Thursday, announcing indictments for the murder of Victoria Jane Collins.
Collins was found naked behind a truck stop in Lake Township in 1996. She was 27.

Prosecutors said Legg's DNA linked him to Collins' death, WKYC reported.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said DNA evidence links Legg to other cold case crimes from the 1990s. Legg was originally taken into custody by Ohio law enforcement in 2019.

"When we announced the arrest of Samuel Legg in February 2019 for a rape in Medina County, I said it was fair to call him a serial killer. Tenacious work by law enforcement and cutting edge DNA technology have continued to unravel his crimes," Yost said Thursday.
Legg has been accused of killing his 14-year-old stepdaughter in Elyria, a killing in Mahoning County and the rape of a 17-year-old in Medina County, Yost said.
