CANAL FULTON, OH — The Batmobile will be sold via auction in Ohio on Aug. 1.

The U.S. Marshals are auctioning off three replica movie vehicles — the Batmobile, the Ghostbusters' Ectomobile, and a DeLorean from "Back to the Future" — during an auction on Aug. 1.

All of the vehicles were seized during a criminal investigation into Ryan Sheridan. A judge ordered Sheridan to repay nearly $24 million to the Ohio Department of Medicaid after Sheridan pleaded guilty to health care fraud, the Business Journal reported.

“These three flashy cars are an example of the ill-gotten gains obtained with the tens of millions of dollars that Ryan Sheridan stole from Medicare, and therefore American taxpayers,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott of the Northern District of Ohio. “The U.S. Marshals routinely sell vehicles, real estate and other assets in order to return proceeds to victims of federal crimes.”

The vehicles will be auctioned at Skipco Auto Auction, 700 Elm Ridge Ave., Canal Fulton. Attendance is limited inside the facility to 120, to allow for social distancing. Face coverings are encouraged for attendees.

The auction will also be simulcast on the Internet, allowing participation without attending in person. Auction participants need to register online and then call Skipco to get the access code. The code must be acquired by July 31.

Once registered, participants can put in their maximum bids ahead of the auction and not have to manually participate in the live auction unless wanting to go higher than their entered bids.
