Coronavirus Cases, Deaths, Hospitalizations Down In Ohio

Ohio saw a major dip in new COVID-19 cases and deaths on Sunday.

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio saw a dip in new COVID-19 cases, deaths and hospitalizations on Sunday.

Over the past 24 hours, health officials have confirmed 613 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans. That's easily the fewest new cases confirmed in a day over the past three weeks. Ohio had been averaging more than 1,100 new COVID-19 cases per day.

Deaths and hospitalizations were also down dramatically on Sunday.

While Ohio has averaged 25 COVID-19-related deaths per day over the past three weeks, only two Ohioans died Sunday due to complications caused by the virus. That's the second fewest deaths confirmed in a day over the past three weeks.

Ohio has also been averaging nearly 100 COVID-19-related hospitalizations per day over the past three weeks. On Sunday, only 26 Ohioans entered hospitals because of the virus. That is the fewest hospitalized Ohioans (due to COVID-19) in the past three weeks.
