Coronavirus Cases, Hospitalizations Trend Down Slightly In Ohio

Ohio saw a slight dip in two key COVID-19 metrics on Thursday.

COLUMBUS, OH — Nearly all of Ohio's key COVID-19 metrics trended downward on Thursday.

Data from the Ohio Department of Health shows new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are down slightly versus the state's three-week average. For the past two days, Ohio had seen a surge in new COVID-19-related deaths, but that number normalized Thursday.

Over the past 24 hours, health officials confirmed 1,067 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans. Since the start of the pandemic, 141,585 Ohioans have contracted coronavirus.

After confirming 49 COVID-19-related deaths on Wednesday, health officials confirmed 25 virus-related deaths on Thursday. That's on par with the state's average of 24 COVID-19-related deaths per day.
