Coronavirus Hospitalizations Continue Surge In Ohio
More than 350 Ohioans have entered hospitals for COVID-19 treatment in the past 24 hours.
COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio nearly broke its record for most COVID-19 hospitalizations confirmed in 24 hours on Tuesday.
At least 368 Ohioans have entered medical facilities for COVID-19 treatment. Health officials from around the state have spent the previous weeks discussing the increasing strain hospitals are under, as staff and bed shortages crop up.
"We need to get past this bad spot," Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday. He confirmed that more than 3,500 Ohioans are currently hospitalized because of the virus, and 900 are in intensive care units. On Nov. 5, there were 2,000 Ohioans in hospitals because of COVID-19.

With Thanksgiving approaching, the leaders of the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, MetroHealth, and other medical systems urged Ohioans to rethink Thanksgiving and to not attend large indoor gatherings.

Ohio also confirmed 7,079 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. That's up versus the state's average of 5,224 cases per day.

- New cases: 7,079
- New deaths: 30
- New hospitalizations: 368
- New ICU admissions: 27
