Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,142 New Cases, 134 New Hospitalizations

At least 134 Ohioans have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

COLUMBUS, OH — In the past 24 hours, more than 130 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19, the state health department announced.

On Tuesday, New York mandated that any visitors or residents who are coming to the state from Ohio must self-quarantine for 14 days. The announcement came hours before health officials confirmed 1,142 new COVID-19 cases statewide.

In the past 24 hours, at least 134 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19, according to the Ohio Department of Health. At least 22 Ohioans were also admitted to intensive care units because of the virus.

Gov. Mike DeWine has been pleading with Ohioans to wear masks when venturing outdoors. Masks have been made mandatory in 12 Ohio counties where the spread of COVID-19 is the most severe.

The virus has even begun spreading throughout the Ohio Statehouse. At least one Republican staffer has tested positive at the statehouse. A politician told Patch the virus' spread has been handled poorly, with little communication among officials about what is happening.
