Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,236 New Cases, 15 Deaths

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio again confirmed more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day, the state health department announced.

At least 1,236 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, the state health department announced. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged 1,196 new cases per day.

Other key COVID-19 metrics were down in Ohio on Monday. Fifteen people have died from the virus in the past 24 hours, down versus the state's three-week average of 18 deaths per day. Fifty-five Ohioans were hospitalized due to the virus on Monday, down versus the state's three-week average of 89 hospitalizations per day.

Intensive care admissions related to COVID-19 were up on Monday, though. At least 29 people were admitted to ICUs in Ohio over the past 24 hours, up versus the state's three-week average of 18 ICU admissions per day.

Gov. Mike DeWine continues to urge Ohioans to wear masks. Currently, 19 Ohio counties are classified as "red," meaning there is a "very high" rate of COVID-19 spread locally. Those counties have mandated mask policies now in place.
