Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,316 New Cases, 160 Hospitalizations

COLUMBUS, OH — At least 160 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, one highest rates of hospitalizations since the pandemic began.

Health officials also confirmed 1,316 new COVID-19 cases and 36 new intensive care admissions related to the virus. Six Ohioans died due to complications caused by COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Wednesday's numbers are higher than the three-week average for daily new cases, hospitalizations and ICU admissions. Only COVID-19-related deaths continues to lag behind its average.

Currently, 12 Ohio counties are classified as "red," meaning there is very high spread of COVID-19 locally. Masks have been made mandatory in those counties to try and curb the virus' spread.
