Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,320 New Cases, 38 Deaths

At least 140 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

COLUMBUS, OH — Health officials confirmed 1,320 new COVID-19 cases in Ohio in the past 24 hours.

The Ohio Department of Health released Tuesday's COVID-19 data for the state. Officials confirmed 1,320 new cases, up versus the state's three-week average for new cases.

In the past 24 hours, 38 Ohioans died due to COVID-19 complications, the health department said. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged 20 COVID-19-caused deaths per day.

Hospitalizations and intensive care admissions related to the virus were also up Tuesday. At least 140 people were admitted to Ohio hospitals due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Ohio has averaged a little under 100 hospitalizations per day over the past three weeks.

"These [hospitalization] numbers are not going in that right direction for us," Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday.
