Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,500 New Cases Confirmed

Ohio also saw 109 people enter hospitals for COVID-19 treatment on Thursday.

COLUMBUS, OH — Health officials confirmed more than 1,500 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans on Thursday.

The Ohio Department of Health announced that in the past 24 hours 1,539 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed among Ohioans. That's the most cases confirmed over the past three weeks and well above the state's average of 1,080 new cases per day.

Since the start of the pandemic, 164,262 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed among Ohio citizens.

The uptick in hospitalizations related to coronavirus also continue Thursday, with 109 Ohioans entering treatment centers due to COVID-19. Gov. Mike DeWine said earlier this week that rural Ohio is driving a new surge in hospitalizations related to the virus.
