Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,679 New Cases, 9 Deaths
Ohio's surge of new COVID-19 cases continued Friday, even after Gov. Mike DeWine urged residents to don masks and follow safety protocols.
COLUMBUS, OH — Health officials confirmed nearly 1,700 new COVID-19 cases in Ohio on Friday.
In the past 24 hours, 1,679 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed statewide, the Ohio Department of Health announced. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged 1,126 new cases per day.
Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 continued to surge Friday as well. At least 121 people were admitted into hospitals because of the virus, up versus the state's three-week average of 89 new hospitalizations per day.

At least nine Ohioans died due to COVID-19 complications on Friday. That's down versus the state's three-week average of 15 new COVID-19 deaths per day.

Twenty-five Ohioans were admitted into intensive care units due to COVID-19, the state health department confirmed. That's also up versus the state's three week average of 19 ICU admissions per day.
Gov. Mike DeWine delivered a rare evening address to Ohioans on Wednesday, urging residents to don masks and prevent a second economic shutdown.
