Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,733 New Cases, 20 Deaths

In the past 24 hours, 125 Ohioans were hospitalized due to COVID-19.

COLUMBUS, OH — More than 1,700 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Ohio in the past 24 hours, the state health department said.

After the surge of new cases appeared to plateau, a spike in new cases were confirmed Thursday. In the past 24 hours, 1,733 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed among Ohioans, the state health department said.

Twenty Ohioans also died from COVID-19 complications in the past 24 hours, which is on par with the state's per day average for new COVID-19-related deaths, the Ohio Department of Health said.

A surge in hospitalizations related to the virus continued Thursday, with 125 Ohioans entering hospitals due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. That's up versus the three-week average of 100 hospitalizations per day.

Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 hit a new highin Ohio this week, the state health department announced Wednesday.

As of Tuesday, data from the Ohio Hospital Association shows that 1,122 COVID-positive patients were being treated in hospitals. Of those, 348 Ohioans are in intensive care units and 174 patients are on a ventilator.
