COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio's surge of new COVID-19 cases has begun to slow, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health.

For the second straight day, health officials confirmed fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases. Over the past three weeks, Ohio had been averaging more than 1,200 new COVID-19 cases per day. In the past 24 hours, 883 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed statewide.

Four Ohioans have died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. More than 3,600 Ohioans have died from complications caused by the virus since the pandemic began.

Hospitalizations were also down on Monday. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged nearly 100 COVID-19-related hospitalizations per day. In the past 24 hours, there were 64 hospitalizations related to the virus.
