Coronavirus In Ohio: Cases Down, Deaths, Hospitalizations Up

While new COVID-19 cases are down in Ohio, other coronavirus metrics are up.

COLUMBUS, OH — For the third straight day, officials confirmed fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in Ohio. However, other key coronavirus metrics have gone up.

In the past 24 hours, 861 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Ohio. That's down versus the state's average of 1,100 new cases per day.

However, deaths and hospitalizations related to the virus have both gone up over the past day.

After fewer than 10 COVID-19 deaths were reported on Sunday and Monday, officials confirmed 39 virus-related deaths in Ohio in the past 24 hours. Since the start of the pandemic, nearly 3,900 Ohioans have died because of COVID-19.

Hospitalizations were also up on Tuesday. Ohio has averaged 97 hospitalizations per day, but at least 117 Ohioans were admitted to hospitals for COVID-19 care on Tuesday.
