COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio saw an uptick in new COVID-19 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, the state health department announced.

After three days of confirmed fewer than 1,100 COVID-19 cases, health officials confirmed 1,422 new cases in the past 24 hours. This is the most cases confirmed in 24 hours since July 31.

Ohio also saw increases in deaths, hospitalizations and intensive care admissions related to COVID-19. More than 140 Ohioans were hospitalized in the past 24 hours because of the virus.

Twenty-six Ohioans died from COVID-19 complications on Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Health confirmed.Twenty-two Ohioans were admitted to intensive units due to COVID-19 complications in the past 24 hours.
