Officials Request Funding For Ohio Schools

Gov. Mike DeWine said he is requesting $100 million in funding for Ohio's K-12 schools and $200 million for Ohio colleges.

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio is requesting allocations of $200 million for higher education and $100 million for K-12 schools from federal CARES Act funding.

Gov. Mike DeWine said funding could be used to enhance distance learning, to offset costs of social distancing changes or for COVID-19 testing. DeWine said the $100 million for K-12 schools would be available to both public and private schools.

DeWine and members of the Ohio General Assembly have requested the allocations for Ohio schools from the Controlling Board, which is distributing CARES Act funding.
