COLUMBUS, OH — While Ohioans break records for early voting, the Buckeye State has again broken a different and grim record for most coronavirus cases confirmed in a single day.
Over the past 24 hours, 4,229 new COVID-19 virus cases were confirmed among Ohioans. That's well above the state's three-week average of 2,596 new cases per day.
Deaths and hospitalizations related to the coronavirus were also up again Tuesday. Thirty-three Ohioans have died because of the virus in the past 24 hours, and 213 Ohioans have entered hospitals to receive COVID-19 treatment.

Despite the unprecedented surge in cases and hospitalizations, Gov. Mike DeWine has said he is not considering a second lockdown of the state. Instead, he continues to urge Ohioans to wear masks and practice social distancing, a plea he has issued repeatedly, and fruitlessly, for several weeks.
Please do your part to protect your family, friends, neighbors, and yourself. Practice social distancing Wear a mask Wash your hands Avoid large gatherings We're still #InThisTogetherOhio. Don't let up.https://t.co/3lWx4IRScb pic.twitter.com/DDRSSEt5ic
