Ohio Jobless Claims Over Last 12 Weeks Pass 1.3 Million

Over the past 12 weeks, there have been more jobless claims filed in Ohio than the past three years combined.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) put out its latest jobless claims for the week ending June 6, with 35,430 more filed.

That brings the total number of jobless claims filed in Ohio over the last 12 weeks to 1,327,843, which is more than the combined total of those filed during the last three years.

ODJFS said in a news release the department has distributed more than $3.8 billion in unemployment compensation payments to more than 686,000 claimants.

Of the more than 1 million applications the agency has received, nearly 94% have been processed, with about 6% pending, the release said. In addition, ODJFS has issued more than $1.5 billion in federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance payments to more than 204,000 claimants.

ODJFS urges individuals to file their claims online, if possible, at unemployment.ohio.gov.
