'Please be careful': Akron woman's car swallowed by sinkhole after water main break (news5cleveland.com) β An Akron driver's car was swallowed by a sinkhole on Spicer Street after a water main break, highlighting safety concerns on city roads. She escaped with help from neighbors and is urging fellow residents to be extra cautious as officials acknowledge Akron is on pace for a record year of water main breaks due to aging pipes.

Goodyear Towpath Trek fall hike/bike challenge underway: how to participate (cleveland.com) β Akron-area walkers and cyclists can take on the Goodyear Towpath Trek this fall by completing four designated sections of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail by Nov. 30. Finishers can pick up a commemorative pin at the Richard Howe House on West Exchange Street in Akron or have it mailed, making the challenge a flexible way to explore nearby parks and history.
