1. 'The Professor' wows crowds with Akron animal business. And he's only 14 (kentucky.com) — A 14-year-old St. Vincent–St. Mary freshman in Akron has turned his love of exotic animals into Jeeperz Creeperz, a fast-growing local education and entertainment business. Working from his Akron home with support from family and the Black Chamber of Commerce, he brings reptiles and other creatures to churches, birthdays and community events while juggling high school and big future ambitions.
   

2. City of Akron Trick or Treat Set for Saturday, October 31 (thereporternewspaperonline.com) — Akron has set citywide trick-or-treat hours for Halloween night, Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m., with porch lights signaling homes welcoming kids. Police will increase neighborhood patrols, and families are urged to follow simple safety tips so children can enjoy a fun, visible and well-supervised evening across Akron's neighborhoods.
   

3. Akron police locate Cadillac believed to be connected to hit-and-run that killed 38-year-old man (wkyc.com) — Akron police say they've found the Cadillac believed to have fatally struck 38-year-old Jesse McCool on South Main Street in a September hit-and-run and are working toward filing charges. McCool's family remembers him as a loving brother and uncle and plans a public balloon release in his honor at Summit Lake Park on Saturday, Oct. 17.
   

4. Rittman planning to honor Sgt. Scott Ries with scholarship and commemorative day (news5cleveland.com) — Rittman residents are creating a scholarship and a November commemorative day to honor Sgt. Scott Ries, who died after being taken to an Akron hospital following a July shooting. The fund will support local students pursuing first-responder careers, while ongoing fundraisers and community gestures aim to support his family and preserve his legacy of service.
